Development of the New Mercedes-AMG Electric Sedan
Mercedes-AMG continues work on the long-awaited fully electric GT 4 Door Coupe sedan. To promote this model, the brand has enlisted Hollywood star Brad Pitt, who recently starred in a Formula 1 film. During the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Pitt became the central figure of the advertising campaign for the new car.
Key Model Characteristics
Presentation in Las Vegas
The German manufacturer brought a lightly camouflaged prototype of the new AMG GT 4 Door Coupe to Las Vegas, giving Russell the opportunity to test it on the city’s main street. This same car was used in the commercial featuring Pitt and Russell, which highlights the model’s dynamic qualities.
Advertising Video Plot
In the video, Brad Pitt approaches the valet stand to get the keys to his car, which is the camouflaged prototype. The employee calls for the driver, who turns out to be Russell himself, to bring the car to Pitt. During this, Russell performs impressive tire burnouts and drifts through the hotel’s underground parking lot before handing the car over to Pitt at the entrance.
Technical Features
The car featured in the campaign is the road version of the AMG GT XX prototype announced earlier this year. The production model has a streamlined design, making it a worthy competitor for the Porsche Taycan and Audi RS e-tron GT. Although the idea of an electric sedan from AMG may disappoint purists, the manufacturer aims to provide exciting driving experiences.
Platform and Engines
The new AMG GT 4 Door Coupe is built on the AMG-EA platform using aluminum, steel, and lightweight composite materials. As in the concept, it is equipped with three axial powerful motors that together produce over 1000 hp.
This model demonstrates how Mercedes-AMG is adapting to electromobility trends while preserving its sporting heritage. The use of such ambitious technologies as axial motors could become a new standard for high-performance electric vehicles, and partnerships with celebrities highlight the global scale of their marketing strategies.
