Presentation of the New Flagship
Škoda continues to reveal details about its future flagship car, showcasing the Peaq model with new details and a camouflaged prototype. This large, fully electric SUV, which will occupy the top step in the model range, will have three rows of seats and is planned to hit European roads in mid-2026.
Dimensions and Platform
Size is a key feature of the newcomer. With a length of 4874 mm, it is 116 mm longer than the combustion-engine Kodiaq. Even more impressive is the wheelbase of 2965 mm, which exceeds the Kodiaq’s figure by 174 mm and even the Superb by 124 mm, placing the model on par with the Chinese version of the Volkswagen ID.6 in terms of dimensions.
Despite the heavy camouflage, the prototype, close to the production appearance, already hints at a softer and more restrained design compared to the 2022 Vision 7S concept.
The company announced that a Sportline trim with black details and optional 21-inch alloy wheels will be available. In any case, the model’s profile is characterized by large doors with hidden handles and a vertical rear end, promising a spacious interior.
Family-Oriented Interior
The new flagship SUV will be available in a five-seat configuration with a huge 1010-liter trunk or a seven-seat version with a 299-liter luggage compartment. In both cases, owners will also have access to a 37-liter front trunk (frunk).
Among other features are a new 13.6-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system, an optional augmented reality head-up display, and the largest panoramic roof in Škoda’s history, equipped with Dynamic Shade Control electrochromic technology. For those seeking maximum comfort, the “Relax Package” adds ergonomic massage seats with footrests, a wellness app, and a high-quality Sonos audio system.
The interior uses over 50 kg of recycled materials, and seat upholstery options include animal-free alternatives and natural leather.
Finally, the Peaq introduces new “Simply Clever” features designed to make passengers’ lives easier.
Technical Specifications and Powertrains
The electric car is built on the proven MEB architecture. Škoda confirmed it will be available with two battery capacities and three powertrain options. The base Level 60 is equipped with a 201 hp rear-mounted motor and a 63 kWh battery, providing a range of over 460 km.
The Level 90 and 90x trims will receive a 91 kWh battery, which provides a range of over 600 km and can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 28 minutes. The 90 model has rear-wheel drive and 282 hp, while the 90x is equipped with all-wheel drive with two motors delivering a combined 295 hp, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
Production and Competitors
Škoda confirmed that its new flagship SUV will be produced at the plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. When it appears on the roads in mid-2026, its competitors will include models such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Peugeot E-5008, and Volvo EX90.
The arrival of the Škoda Peaq clearly demonstrates the brand’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the market for large family electric cars. With features such as a long range, power, and a well-thought-out interior, the model aims for a significant market share where Korean manufacturers dominate. Production in Europe could also be an additional advantage for local buyers who value regional manufacturing. The success of the Peaq could significantly influence the perception of Škoda as a manufacturer of not only affordable but also technologically advanced premium electric vehicles.
