The Smallest Jeep SUV Updates Its Exterior, and This Time the Changes Are Not Limited to Europe

Early Plans for the Update

The Jeep Avenger may seem like a brand-new model to many drivers, but the Stellantis conglomerate does not plan to delay. Just a few years after its debut in 2023, the small SUV is already preparing for a mid-life cycle update. The updated model is expected in early 2027, and we are now getting the first photos of it.

The prototype, photographed during cold-weather testing in Europe, hints at the changes Jeep might make to its smallest model.

Exterior Under Camouflage

The test vehicle is completely covered in camouflage film with Jeep’s signature graphic elements, masking the details. However, through narrow slits, it is visible that the separate LED headlights and cooling system air intakes remain in the same places as before. A noticeable correction concerns the fog lights – they have shifted slightly lower on the front bumper.

The sculpted profile of the Avenger will most likely be fully inherited from the current version. Nevertheless, the plastic body cladding may undergo minor changes, and new alloy wheel designs and body colors are expected to refresh the look.

At the rear, the prototype does not appear to have reworked panels, although this could change closer to the release date. One exhaust tip indicates that under the hood lies a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine, in pure or mild-hybrid guise.

Interior Expectations

Spy photographers managed to peek inside the cabin, although Stellantis engineers made it difficult. Everything from the dashboard to door trim and seats was hidden under covers. The SUV still features a separate multimedia screen, positioned apart from the digital instrument cluster. However, the very fact of the concealment indicates upcoming changes.

It is not yet known whether Jeep will add softer materials instead of hard plastics in the current model, at least in key contact points. The equipment is also expected to be updated with the latest connectivity and safety technologies from Stellantis’s arsenal.

Technical Aspects and Platform

Regarding the technical part, it is too early to talk about details, but there are no signs of a large-scale overhaul. The current Avenger offers versions with internal combustion engines, a mild-hybrid, and a fully electric one, and this lineup will most likely be preserved. An all-wheel-drive variant is already available in the mild-hybrid 4xe guise, and this configuration should be retained.

The Avenger is built on the updated Stellantis CMP/eCMP platform, which is also used by the Alfa Romeo Junior, Fiat 600, Lancia Ypsilon, Opel Corsa and Mokka, Peugeot 208 and 2008, as well as the DS3. This shared base means many components and configurations will likely remain unchanged after the facelift.

Global Expansion of the Model

Outside of Europe, the smallest Jeep is preparing for a broader market entry. Production will soon begin in Brazil, where the Avenger will receive region-specific updates. In fact, this camouflaged prototype may not only preview the European facelift but could also be part of the testing program for the localized South American version with its own powertrain changes.

The expansion of Avenger production to Brazil is a strategic step to solidify its position in South American markets, where demand for compact SUVs remains high. Localization of production is often accompanied by adaptation to local operating conditions and fuel specifics, which could mean the emergence of unique technical solutions. Parallel testing of the European and Brazilian versions allows for cost optimization while ensuring the model meets different standards and customer expectations on two continents.
