Felipe Massa’s unique LaFerrari is up for auction
To have a chance to purchase one of the limited Ferrari cars, you usually need to have a huge collection of other cars from the Italian brand. Only then can you qualify to order models such as the LaFerrari or F80. However, as it turns out, racing for the Ferrari Formula 1 team also provides exclusive access to these cars.
Brazilian driver Felipe Massa raced for Ferrari for eight consecutive years, from 2006 to 2013. Shortly after he left the team, he received the keys to one of only 499 LaFerraris built. Ferrari allowed Massa to customize the car in Nero black with red Rosso Corsa stripes on the front splitter, side sills, and rear diffuser.

This black and red LaFerrari also features a plaque between the seats inscribed with “Grazie Felipe” and the signature of then-CEO Luca di Montezemolo. Massa personally signed the car’s carbon fiber dashboard panel. He owned this car until 2021, when it was purchased by a Danish collector. Now the hypercar is being offered for sale through RM Sotheby’s with an estimated value between 5.5 and 6 million dollars.
Low mileage and impeccable history
Although Ferrari’s first hybrid hypercar is over twelve years old, this example has covered less than 2485 miles (4000 km). Apparently, Massa preferred to look at the car rather than drive it on the streets of Monaco, where it was initially registered. Last month, the car underwent maintenance at the only certified Ferrari service center in Denmark. This is a rare opportunity for a collector to get behind the wheel of a truly unique example.
Like most cars, prices for the LaFerrari vary greatly depending on mileage. In April, a Signal Green car once owned by singer Jay Kay was sold for just over 5 million euros (about 5.81 million dollars at the current exchange rate), and that car had a mileage of over 6835 miles (11000 km).
This sale underscores how highly valued hypercars with low mileage and a unique provenance are. The presence of the signature of a famous Formula 1 driver and a former company executive adds not only collectible but also emotional value to the car. For fans of Ferrari and motorsport, this is not just a car, but a true artifact combining engineering excellence and the history of great racing. Given the limited number of LaFerraris produced and the growing interest in first-generation hybrid supercars, this lot will undoubtedly attract the attention of the world’s most serious collectors.
