No One Would Have Guessed That Under This Rusty Body Hides a Modern Chevrolet

A Classic Pickup with a Modern “Heart”

Externally, this 1970 Chevrolet C20 looks as if it has gone through decades of use: rust, peeling paint, classic design. However, under the hood and body lies modern technology—the engine and chassis from a new Silverado. This project, known as Derelict, was created by the masters at Icon 4×4.

The engineers preserved the original body but mounted it on a modern platform. The details of the process are not disclosed, but the work was complex. Under the hood is a powerful V8, likely paired with a transmission from a 2025 model. Meanwhile, the interior remained almost untouched, preserving the spirit of the era.

Technology Hidden Under Retro Style

Unlike many restored cars, in this case, the interior was not completely redesigned. For example, the center console looks original but contains modern controls and a small multimedia screen. The instruments are also integrated into standard openings, adding authenticity.

The driver and passenger seats received new upholstery made of leather and fabric, but the steering wheel remained classic—a two-spoke design. This allowed for preserving the spirit of the old Chevrolet but with greater comfort and reliability.

The price of such a project is not disclosed, but it will certainly be high. Icon 4×4 has already created several similar models, including retro cars based on a 1949 Mercury Coupe and a 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. The C20 is another example of how history can be combined with modern technology without losing the original charm.

Similar projects are becoming increasingly popular among collectors and enthusiasts. They prove that old cars can be not only museum exhibits but also full-fledged vehicles with all modern advantages. Sometimes the best solution is not to completely change the design but to skillfully combine it with new technologies.
