New prices and trims
Nissan has introduced the 2027 Murano, and the cost of entry has risen by $2,320 as the company dropped the entry-level SV trim. Its disappearance means prices now start at $43,990 before the $1,545 destination fee.
The trim changes don’t end there: the company has introduced a new Dark Armor version. It starts at $46,990 and sits almost exactly between SL and Platinum.
Review: The new Nissan Murano is a missed opportunity
Dark Armor exterior and interior
As the name suggests, the Murano Dark Armor embraces the night, featuring glossy black emblems, exterior accents, and 21-inch wheels. They are joined by Dark Armor badges, as well as a color palette that includes Gun Metallic and Super Black as no-cost options. Customers can order Scarlet Ember or Everest White for $450, while Boulder Gray and Everest White with contrasting black roofs cost $1,000.
Inside, the crossover has perforated Prima-Tex seats in graphite. They are heated and have front power adjustment.
Additional equipment
In addition to a slightly sportier style, the Murano Dark Armor is equipped with extra features, including acoustic front side glass and a panoramic moonroof. All of this is complemented by a 10-speaker Bose audio system, multi-color ambient interior lighting, and a 12.3-inch NissanConnect infotainment system with Google built-in.
This is on top of LED lighting units, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a Qi2 wireless charging pad. The Murano also comes standard with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control, and numerous driver assistance systems, including ProPILOT Assist.
Engine and transmission
All models are powered by the familiar 2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine with 241 hp (180 kW / 244 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Although the powertrain is unchanged, the 2027 Murano has gained a new Snow Mode.

The updated Murano shows that Nissan is betting on increasing the average transaction price by removing the more affordable version and offering brighter special editions. Dark Armor effectively replaces the former sport packages, but significantly raises the entry point, which could affect its competitive position in the midsize crossover segment. At the same time, retaining the previous engine and adding only a new drive mode indicates that the company focused on cosmetic updates rather than technical changes. This could be a risky move, as rivals such as the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Hyundai Santa Fe offer a wider choice of powertrains, including hybrid and electric versions. Thus, the new Murano relies on a proven platform and powertrain, compensating with modern equipment and expressive styling. Whether this strategy will meet buyers’ expectations remains to be seen.
