The New Audi RS Q6 is Essentially a Porsche with Different Badges

New Audi RS Q6 Sportback e-tron Spotted Again at the Nürburgring

After an almost two-year hiatus, spy photos have once again captured the high-performance electric Audi RS Q6 Sportback e-tron crossover during testing at the Nürburgring. This suggests the model’s debut could happen this year.

The car, which will occupy the top step in the Sportback e-tron lineup, shows a number of differences from the less powerful SQ6 version.

Aggressive Design and Aerodynamics

The front end has received a unique bumper with a more aggressive central air intake featuring sharp accents, honeycomb inserts, and triangular elements with horizontal crossbars. The surround design is reminiscent of the style Audi uses for the Chinese market and includes vertical air curtains at the edges.

A series of openings likely directs air to cool the more powerful front braking system, which is equipped with significantly larger calipers.

Also noticeable are the tall and narrow vent openings on the front fenders, designed to improve aerodynamics. The crossover is expected to receive alloy wheels developed specifically for this model.

Changes at the Rear and Interior

The rear has largely retained its shape, but the RS Q6 has been equipped with a new bumper and a sportier diffuser. The latter features a pronounced central channel and protruding elements in the place where a four-tailpipe exhaust system would typically be located. A characteristic spoiler and a full-width light bar across the tailgate are also present.

Inside, in addition to numerous RS badges, sports seats, carbon fiber trim, and a set of digital screens are expected: an 11.9-inch instrument panel, a 14.5-inch multimedia system, and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger.

Powerful Electric Powertrain

Details of the powertrain remain the most intriguing secret. The model will likely be built on the same PPE architecture as the regular SQ6 with its 100 kWh battery, but with significantly more power. The base SQ6 develops up to 510 hp using two motors and all-wheel drive.

The RS variant will most likely be based on the technical solution from the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric, which delivers up to 630 horsepower and 1130 Nm of torque.

Such power allows the Porsche Macan Electric to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The Audi RS Q6 Sportback e-tron is expected to show similar, if not better, dynamic performance, cementing its status as one of the fastest electric crossovers on the market. The appearance of this model marks a new stage in the development of Audi Sport’s high-performance electric direction, combining the aggressive aesthetic traditional for the RS series with modern zero-emission technologies.
