New Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Unexpectedly Appears on the Track
Despite Chevrolet keeping details of the long-awaited C8 Corvette Grand Sport model under wraps, the car made a surprise debut during an event at the Sebring International Raceway. The novelty was presented during a parade lap alongside previous generations of the Grand Sport.
Key features of the new model already visible:
Design and Exterior
The car has a very recognizable color scheme: Admiral Blue body, black racing stripe, and red accents on the rear fenders. It is equipped with a wide body similar to the E-Ray and Z06 models, and also uses the central exhaust system from the Z06. The rear spoiler and front splitter are also new design elements. The central section of the front bumper is likely made of carbon fiber, distinguishing it from other models.
Chevrolet has remained tight-lipped about the long-expected C8 Corvette Grand Sport in recent months, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning.
The car shown at Sebring also has black wheels, similar to those installed on the C7 generation Grand Sport, paired with red brake calipers.
New Engine and Technical Specifications
Although GM has released several photos of the new Grand Sport, details about the powertrain remain unknown. The full presentation is scheduled for March 26.

The new Corvette Grand Sport is expected to receive Chevy’s latest small-block V8 engine, known as the LS6. This will be a 6.7-liter naturally aspirated V8, likely using direct and port fuel injection, allowing it to produce around 550 horsepower.
Final specifications have not yet been confirmed, but a figure in the mid-500s will allow the Grand Sport to slot between the Stingray (495 hp) and the Z06 (670 hp). Chevrolet expects the new Grand Sport to become the most popular among all Corvette models.
Future Versions and Plans
Chevrolet is working not only on the base Grand Sport version. Recent reports indicate that a new Grand Sport X version is also being prepared for release. It is set to replace the existing E-Ray model, gaining all-wheel drive, a front electric motor, and a combined output of 721 hp.
The public appearance of the Corvette Grand Sport ahead of its official premiere confirms the high interest in this model and its importance to the Chevrolet lineup. The use of a new powertrain and unique design could make it a key player in the sports car market. Given the Grand Sport tradition as a balanced version between base and top models, its technical specifications and design are likely aimed at combining daily comfort with track capabilities. Further details, which will become known after the official debut, will provide a clearer picture of how Chevrolet sees the future of this legendary series.
