Chinese company BYD is preparing to release an updated version of its Yangwang U9 electric supercar, which, according to CarNewsChina, will receive four electric motors with a total output of over 3000 hp.
Model certification documents indicate that each of the four motors will develop 555 kW (approximately 755 hp), totaling 2220 kW or about 3020 hp. This makes the new U9 the most powerful production electric car in the world, surpassing competitors such as the Lotus Evija (1972 hp) and Rimac Nevera (1914 hp). For comparison, the current Yangwang U9 produces “only” 1287 hp (960 kW).

The updated supercar has received a number of aerodynamic innovations: a front splitter, rear diffuser, and an electrically operated spoiler. The top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h, but the model’s real capabilities are impressive — the previous Yangwang U9 set a record for Chinese cars by accelerating to 391.4 km/h.
The new U9’s range is stated to be 450 km, and the fast-charging function allows the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in just ten minutes.
Furthermore, the supercar retains the proprietary DiSus-X body control system, which allows changing the suspension height at each wheel individually, moving on three wheels, “jumping,” and automatically adjusting the clearance so that the body does not touch the road surface.
The exact release date and approximate price of the updated Yangwang U9 have not yet been announced.
