Genesis GV90 Development Continues
Despite the lengthy development process, work on the Genesis GV90 with coach-style doors continues. However, the long car creation period seems to be tiring the workers, as some of them ignored the “Do Not Open the Door!” warning.
Unique Doors Without B-Pillars
Thanks to this erroneous action, spy photographers managed to capture the doors in operation. As expected, the doors open and close automatically, ensuring easy entry and exit. Even more importantly, this luxury crossover is devoid of B-pillars, making the side opening continuous. Even Rolls-Royce has a thick pillar separating the front and rear passenger spaces, so this feature of the GV90 is significant.
Inspired by the Neolun Concept
This feature was introduced in the Neolun concept, and Genesis had previously noted that the coach doors without B-pillars provide a “much more open interior space” and maximize “convenient access for passengers.” They then hinted that development had reached a point where using such a design in production models had “now become possible.”

Technical Features of the Doors
It seems Genesis will transfer the traditional B-pillar support to the doors themselves. Part of this change can be seen in the pronounced locking mechanisms on the sill and roof. The front part of the rear doors also looks significantly thicker than the rest of the panel.
Interior and Comfort
Besides the opportunity to see the doors in action, the latest photos show that the crossover will have electric seats in the front and rear with numerous adjustments. Blue and purple leather, metal accents, and contrasting upholstery are also visible.

Second Row of Seats
Previous spy shots showcased an elegant second row with captain’s chairs separated by a large center console. The latter appears to contain wireless smartphone charging and an integrated tablet.
Platform and Powertrain
The company has not disclosed many details about the model recently, but the GV90 is expected to be built on the new eM platform. This architecture is likely to be an evolution of the existing E-GMP platform but will include the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology.
Expected Specifications
While full information remains unknown, the GV90 is expected to be more advanced than the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9. The latter is equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery, as well as all-wheel drive with two motors producing up to 422 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. With such a powertrain, the model can travel up to 311 miles.
The implementation of coach doors without B-pillars in a production car, like the GV90, could set a new standard for luxury electric vehicles, combining innovation with practicality. It also demonstrates how concepts like the Neolun are gradually being implemented in real models, which may influence the future developments of other manufacturers.
