Airstream introduces the new compact trailer World Traveler 17RB
The Airstream World Traveler lineup is expanding: the company has announced the release of the new 17RB model. As the name suggests, it is a compact 17-foot (5.18-meter) trailer, positioned below the 22RB model priced at $69,400.
A lightweight and affordable option for beginners
Positioned as a lightweight option for first-time buyers, this trailer features a classic riveted aluminum body, dual-pane acrylic windows, and a manual awning. These are complemented by retractable steps, a storage compartment for gas cylinders, and a low roofline, as the air conditioner is mounted underneath.

Speaking of the roof, the camper can be equipped with optional 200W solar panels. Airstream also offers an optional 2.5 kWh lithium battery pack for extended off-grid stays.
Scandinavian-inspired interior
Inside, the interior is inspired by Scandinavian design, with white aluminum walls and Shoreline or Sagebrush upholstery. The cabin is relatively simple, but the front section features a convertible dinette. At the opposite end is a bed measuring 53 inches (1346 mm) wide, which can accommodate two people.
Compact kitchen with expansion capabilities
The two zones are separated by a small kitchen, which includes a two-burner stove, a sink, and a refrigerator/freezer with a capacity of 2.1 cubic feet (59 liters). To expand the counter space, the countertop has a fold-out extension, as well as a removable/foldable additional section from the bed side.
If you don’t feel like cooking after a long day of adventures, Airstream offers an optional microwave oven. Customers can also order an additional refrigerator in a pull-out drawer from the dinette.
Equipment and production
In addition to the kitchen, the 17RB model is equipped with a 24-inch Smart TV and a Truma Combi Eco Plus system for heating and hot water. Buyers will also find numerous storage compartments and, presumably, a JBL audio system.
The World Traveler 17RB is already in production for the US, and global production will begin this fall. The company did not disclose the price but hinted that it will be “one of the most affordable entry points into the Airstream lifestyle to date.”
This move by Airstream is a logical continuation of its strategy to attract new customers who may have previously considered the brand’s trailers too expensive or cumbersome. The compact 17-foot format makes it convenient to tow even with smaller vehicles, while the basic yet thoughtful equipment allows one to focus on the main thing — traveling. The absence of an official price hints that the manufacturer aims to make the model as competitive as possible in the entry-level trailer market, where the battle for customers is fierce.
