New BMW Concept from Pebble Beach Could Mark the End of This Model Series

BMW to Present a Special Version of the 8-Series at Monterey Car Week

BMW is preparing a surprise for fans – a special version of the 8-Series, which will debut on August 14 at 22:15 Eastern Time. Although details remain unknown, the company hints that this could be the final version of the model, which first appeared in 2018. Over the years, the lineup has expanded to include a coupe, convertible, Gran Coupe, and the powerful M8.

Previous reports indicate that BMW may discontinue production of the 8-Series due to low sales. A similar situation occurred with Mercedes, which also discontinued the S-Class Coupe and Convertible. The special version will likely be based on the M850i with a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 producing 523 hp.

Premiere of the M2 CS and Other Exhibits

In addition to the 8-Series, BMW will show the M2 CS in North America – a model that recently set a record at the Nürburgring. The car is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing 523 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 188 mph.

The exhibition will also feature other models, including race cars and art cars, such as the M1 by Andy Warhol. This will be part of a large-scale event where BMW will demonstrate its innovations and historical achievements.

Given market trends, it can be assumed that BMW will focus on electrification and new technologies, so saying goodbye to the 8-Series may be a logical step. However, the special version will likely become a collectible rarity for brand enthusiasts.
