New Wuling Xingguang 560 Crossover
Chinese automaker Wuling, which is part of a joint venture with General Motors, has unveiled a new mid-size crossover called the Xingguang 560. This model is important for GM in the Chinese market, where the company is showing resilient results despite the general difficulties faced by Western brands. Last year, GM and its joint ventures sold nearly 1.9 million vehicles, which is 2.3% more than in 2024. New energy vehicles, such as the popular Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV, played a significant role in this growth.
Exterior and Design
The new Xingguang 560 is offered with three types of powertrains: gasoline, hybrid, and fully electric. The car’s design includes a narrow grille combined with stylish headlights featuring X-shaped daytime running lights. The front end differs depending on the drive type: it is closed on electric and hybrid versions, and open on the gasoline version. The side view features noticeable plastic body cladding, an optional contrasting roof, stylish wheels, and a spoiler on the tailgate. The rear lights also have an X-shaped design, and the window line and pillars resemble the design of the Subaru Forester.
Vehicle Dimensions
The Wuling Xingguang 560 is a fairly large crossover. Its length is 186.8 inches (4745 mm), width is 72.8 inches (1850 mm), and height is 69.1 inches (1755 mm). The wheelbase is 110.6 inches (2810 mm). For comparison, this model is 3.6 inches (91 mm) longer than the Chevrolet Equinox, and its wheelbase is 3.1 inches (79 mm) larger.
Interior and Practicality
The interior is executed in a minimalist style. The basis is a digital instrument panel and an infotainment system, reportedly with a 12.8-inch diagonal. The steering wheel has two spokes, the air vents feature an unusual design, and the center console likely houses a wireless charger for two smartphones simultaneously. The cargo volume with the rear seats folded reaches 68.7 cubic feet (1945 liters). Furthermore, the car offers over 25 storage compartments for small items, including a hidden space under the rear seats.
Available Powertrains
Buyers are offered three powertrain options:

Pricing Policy
For the launch period, the model is offered at special starting prices. The price range is from $8,581 (59,800 yuan) to $13,746 (95,800 yuan). After the introductory promotion ends, prices are expected to rise to a level from $9,155 to $14,751 (from 63,800 to 102,800 yuan). Such price affordability makes the Xingguang 560 a very attractive offering on the market.
The appearance of such a diverse and affordable crossover as the Xingguang 560 clearly demonstrates GM’s strategy of strengthening its position in China through local brands. The ability to choose between three types of powertrains allows it to reach the widest possible range of buyers with different preferences and budgets. The aggressive pricing policy is particularly noteworthy, making a car larger than the Chevrolet Equinox available at an incredibly low price. This could create serious competition not only for other Chinese manufacturers but also influence the market strategies of global brands in this segment. The success of this model could be another step in the transformation of the Chinese market, where consumers increasingly value technology, practicality, and value.
