One of the most beautiful Alfa Romeo cars received an unexpected redesign

Unique Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda Zagato

At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este exhibition, the Italian atelier Zagato presented a unique car — the Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda. This is a one-of-a-kind model created for a private collector. The car is based on the original Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione but features an entirely new body by Zagato.

A distinctive feature of the model is its rear section, which combines two styles — a short rounded design with the so-called “Kamm-tail” (truncated end). Company president Andrea Michele Zagato noted:

We created a true fusion of the round and truncated tail in a single style while preserving the functional advantages of both.

Technical Features

Under the hood, the car likely retains the same 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 from Ferrari and Maserati, producing 444 horsepower and accelerating the car to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The original 8C Competizione was produced in a limited series from 2007 to 2010, making it quite rare, and this exclusive variant by Zagato will become a true gem in any collection.

Designer Norihiko Harada emphasized that the classic Kamm-tail is usually used in racing cars, but a special version was developed for the 8C DoppiaCoda to highlight the elegance of a GT coupe.

This project once again proves that Italian ateliers like Zagato can reinterpret even the most beautiful cars, adding even more uniqueness. At the same time, the original design of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, created by the brand’s own Centro Stile, remains a benchmark of automotive aesthetics that inspires new interpretations.
