Police Arrived at the Scene Where a Driver Was Found Pinned Under a Mercedes SUV

A Dangerous Situation Under the Car

Many drivers sometimes find themselves in dangerous situations related to their cars. This usually happens behind the wheel, but recently a Mercedes-Benz owner found himself in a deadly trap under his own SUV. The man was trying to check a possible malfunction in the parking lot of an auto parts store when the jack failed, and the car fell on him. Thanks to the quick reaction of a police officer, the victim survived and avoided life-threatening injuries.

Immediate Response of Emergency Services

Webster, Massachusetts police reported that officers, firefighters, and an ambulance crew arrived at the Advanced Auto Parts store on East Main Street on February 17 after a report of a person trapped under a car. Body camera video from a police officer captures the moment the first officer, Nicholas Caruso, arrived on the scene.

The footage shows that as the officer approaches the Mercedes-Benz GL, the man is no longer responsive to those around him. For unclear reasons, no one had yet attempted to use a jack from the store itself to free the victim. The officer clearly gives orders to those around to find a jack and place chocks under the rear wheel to prevent the car from rolling while additional services arrive.

Successful Rescue and Consequences of the Incident

Just two and a half minutes after arrival, the first officer on the scene managed to pull the man from under the car to a safe place. Webster authorities reported that he began breathing immediately after being freed.

This was an outstanding response by the entire Webster public safety team. This is another example of the collaboration demonstrated by the members of our team who serve our community every day. We are fortunate to have such dedicated men and women who serve and protect our community.

This entire incident clearly demonstrates how quickly a situation related to car maintenance can become life-threatening. Last year, there were several cases where jacks failed, cars fell off lifts or rolled if the owner did not secure them properly. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending, and the victim survived without serious injuries.

Such cases remind us of the critical importance of following safety rules during any work on a car, even the simplest. Having quality equipment, additional chocks, and awareness of the risks can save lives. The story from Webster also highlights the importance of clear and coordinated actions by emergency services, which were able to interact effectively under stress. This is not the first and, unfortunately, not the last such case, so it should serve as a powerful signal to all car owners about the need for extreme caution.
