Stellantis Financial Difficulties in the First Half of 2025
The automotive concern Stellantis has published preliminary financial results for the first half of 2025, which turned out to be far from optimistic. The company expects a net loss of 2.68 billion dollars, which sharply contrasts with the profit of 6.58 billion for the same period last year. The main reasons for this decline include tariffs, rising production costs, currency fluctuations, and losses due to supply constraints.
As noted by the company:
“The disclosure of preliminary financial data is aimed at explaining the discrepancies between analyst forecasts and the company’s actual performance.”
The drop in shipments to North America is particularly striking – down 25% in the second quarter compared to 2024, equivalent to 109 thousand units of equipment.
Prospects and Management Comments
Despite the difficult situation, Stellantis management is confident that the second half of the year will bring improvements. CEO Antonio Filosa called the first six months of 2025 a period of “gradual improvement,” despite external challenges. A partial positive can be considered the 13% growth in sales in Europe and other markets.
The full financial report, which will be published on July 29, is expected to shed light on all aspects of the company’s activities. For now, Stellantis is betting on internal optimization measures, which, in its opinion, will have an effect in the coming months. However, the decline in production and the increase in competitive pressure remain serious challenges for one of the world’s largest automakers.
