In the first four months of this year, Kia EV6 sales fell by 37.4% — to 2,751 units. This is a significant drop, likely linked to the cancellation of the federal tax credit for electric vehicles.
Now Kia is trying to rectify the situation by announcing sharp price cuts for the 2026 model year. The base EV6 Light Standard Range now costs $37,900 excluding a $1,545 delivery fee. That’s $5,000 less compared to the 2025 model.

The EV6 Light Long Range version also received a $5,000 discount, while the all-wheel-drive variant became $5,100 cheaper. The Wind trim got a price reduction of $5,500, and its price now starts at $44,800.
Finally, the GT-Line will cost $48,700, which is $5,500 less than last year, and the all-wheel-drive version offers savings of $5,900.
Kia did not mention the EV6 GT, but the manufacturer discontinued imports of the high-performance version earlier this year “due to changing market conditions.”
Minor model year updates
In addition to lower prices, the 2026 EV6 now comes standard with a dual-mode charging cable. Buyers in zero-emission states also receive a free DC fast charging adapter. Additionally, the model now supports a “plug and charge” feature, which allows for automatic billing at compatible charging stations via the Kia Charge Pass.
Other changes are minor, but the EV6 Light Long Range has dropped the Tech Package to “reduce complexity.” Buyers will also see an updated color palette both inside and out.
As a reminder, the EV6 is offered with 63 kWh and 84 kWh batteries, with a range from 237 miles (381 km) to 319 miles (513 km). Buyers can choose between 167 hp (125 kW), 225 hp (168 kW), and 320 hp (239 kW).

This sharp price reduction indicates serious pressure in the electric vehicle market, especially after the cancellation of federal tax incentives in the U.S. Kia is trying to keep the EV6 competitive, which was previously considered one of the best electric crossovers in its class. It is worth noting that even after the discounts, the model remains more expensive than some competitors, such as the Tesla Model Y or Hyundai Ioniq 5, which are also actively cutting prices. At the same time, the addition of a standard dual-mode cable and the Plug & Charge feature makes owning the vehicle more convenient, which could be an additional advantage for buyers torn between different brands.
