Renault Group still decided to sell AvtoVAZ. Although it looks more like an attempt to get rid of an unnecessary asset under sanctions, because the French will receive as much as 1 ruble for VAZ.
No, this is not a joke – the information was voiced by the minister of industry and trade of the aggressor country, Denis Manturov. AvtoVAZ (more precisely, a 68% stake) will be sold for a ruble to the state institute NAMI.
And the Renault plant in Moscow will be given to the city authorities. They promise to establish the production of other cars there, but everyone understands that these are, to put it mildly, fairy tales.
Why so cheap? Because AvtoVAZ turned out to be like the elusive Joe – nobody needs it. At first, there were rumors that the Chinese would buy it, but in the end, it essentially returned to state ownership.

Moreover, the VAZ factories in Togliatti and Izhevsk are currently more standing than working. From April 4 to April 24, all personnel were sent on vacation, but after its completion, the conveyor could not be properly launched – cars are assembled in small batches due to a lack of spare parts.
According to optimistic forecasts, a return to the usual mode of operation in Togliatti will be possible not earlier than June – it is then that those very stripped-down versions of Lada Granta and Niva without ABS, airbags, and with Euro-2 standard engines should begin to be produced. As for the Lada Vesta, representatives of VAZ recently stated that it will not be assembled in Izhevsk for at least 5-6 months.
