Russia threatens to seize Nissan plant

The Nissan plant in Saint Petersburg is planned to be nationalized. This was announced by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Mansurov.

According to him, the possibility of nationalizing all of Nissan’s assets on Russian territory is being considered. The plant will most likely be transferred to the St. Petersburg authorities so that they can organize the production of some other cars there.

As is known, the plant used to produce the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail. It has not been operating since March 10, as Nissan opposed the war, supported sanctions against the Russian Federation, and provided assistance to Ukraine. It later became known that Nissan did not plan to resume plant operations before March 2023.

As is known, AvtoVAZ previously returned to state ownership. However, in this case, Renault themselves disposed of it, selling it for as little as 1 ruble.
