In the USA, a 1968 Ford Mustang from the iconic film “Bullitt” was put up for auction. The car was preliminarily estimated at an incredible $4 million – like a dozen Lamborghini Aventadors.
It should be noted that three identical Ford Mustangs were used for filming the movie. Two of them performed stunts, and this particular car was used for scenic shots with Steve McQueen behind the wheel.
The car was purchased by a Warner Brothers studio employee, then resold to a policeman, and in 1974, the Ford Mustang was bought for just $6000 by collector Robert Kiernan. The car was used daily and was even refused sale to Steve McQueen.
After approximately 100,000 km of mileage, the Mustang’s clutch failed. Instead of repairing the car, it was put into storage in a garage.
Only recently did Robert’s son fix the clutch and restore the 6.4-liter 320-horsepower V8.
Even in a weathered condition, the Ford Mustang Bullitt is fabulously expensive.
