by On the shores of Lake Como, the long-awaited premiere of the new Kimera K39 supercar took place. The company unveiled two versions at once: a road version and a racing version designed for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. This model continues the line started by the EVO37 and EVO38, which were inspired by the legendary Lancia 037, but significantly surpasses them in technical characteristics.
New Powertrain from Koenigsegg
The most important change is the engine. While its predecessors used a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine with twin charging (turbo and supercharger), the K39 features a unique twin-turbo V8 engine developed by the Swedish company Koenigsegg.
This engine is similar to those installed in Koenigsegg hypercars, but the turbos here are smaller for better throttle response. Total power is 1000 horsepower at 7350 rpm, and torque reaches 1200 Nm at 5500 rpm. As befits a Koenigsegg engine, it loves high revs, reaching a maximum of 8250 rpm.
Design and Aerodynamics
In addition to the engine, the car’s design has also undergone significant changes. The overall silhouette remains recognizable and reminiscent of the Lancia 037, but the K39 looks much more modern. The road version features new headlights and a more complex front end for improved aerodynamics.
The most noticeable changes are on the side: the rear track has become wider, and huge air intakes have appeared to cool the new engine. The rear now better suits a true supercar: it features a distinctive engine cover, diffuser, and rear wing.
Racing Version for Pikes Peak
The version for the Pikes Peak climb is a completely different level. A massive splitter appears at the front, and new side skirts on the sides. Special mirrors, a roof air intake, and a huge rear wing paired with a giant diffuser are also installed. The car looks like a true battle tool and features a Martini Racing livery.
Limited Production and Price
Kimera states that production of the K39 will be extremely limited. Although the exact number is not disclosed, it is known that over twenty cars have already been reserved by buyers. The first ten owners will receive a special version of the racing car, inspired by Pikes Peak, with a unique aerodynamic package. Prices have not been announced yet, but as they say, if you have to ask about the cost, you cannot afford it.
Thus, the Kimera K39 becomes not just a tribute to the classic Lancia 037, but also an independent technical masterpiece. The use of a Koenigsegg engine elevates it to the level of the world’s best hypercars, and the limited production run makes it a desirable exhibit for the most discerning collectors. The combination of Italian design and Swedish engineering promises to create not just a fast car, but a true work of art on wheels, which will undoubtedly be the highlight of any collection.
