Automaker Ford has announced two new recalls for some of its popular models. Among the issues are an air conditioning system that may unexpectedly fail and a faulty seat sensor that can block the passenger airbags.
New Problems Following a Massive Recall
These new campaigns come shortly after a large-scale recall of over 420,000 vehicles in the USA. This indicates that the company, despite statements about quality improvements, still has work to do. Thousands of additional vehicles have been affected by two separate recalls announced on March 31.
Recall Due to Faulty Climate Control System
The first recall concerns a relatively small number of vehicles – only 55 units. According to Ford, certain Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer models have a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that may fail.
Ford reports that the cause may be an improperly secured electrical ground connector on the blower motor during instrument panel assembly.
A non-functioning climate control system is not just an inconvenience. The company notes that it can also increase the risk of an accident if the driver is unable to clear the windshield of frost or fog. The recall affects 5 Lincoln Aviator and 50 Ford Explorer vehicles manufactured in late 2025 – early 2026. Owners will be notified on April 10, and dealers are instructed to check and securely fasten all instrument panel connections.
Bronco Sport and Maverick Join the Problems

The second recall concerns a significantly larger number of vehicles – 3,170 Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick models. It has been discovered that these vehicles may have a damaged Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) port. This affects the system’s ability to correctly determine whether an adult or a child is in the front passenger seat.
Due to this malfunction, the front passenger airbag will be disabled, posing an obvious safety threat. Owners may recognize the problem if a “Passenger Airbag OFF” warning appears on the instrument panel.
Which Specific Vehicles Are Involved
The recall affects all 2025-2026 model year Ford Bronco Sport vehicles manufactured from July 29 to December 3, 2025 – a total of 1,515 vehicles. Also being recalled are 2025-2026 model year Maverick pickups assembled from August 8 to September 11, 2025. Dealers are instructed to replace the Occupant Classification Sensor free of charge.

These events continue a series of concerning reports from the major automaker. While the recall process demonstrates the existence of a system for responding to defects, the frequency of such incidents may affect consumer trust. For owners of the affected models, it is important to promptly contact official dealers upon receiving notification, as both identified defects directly concern safety – both active, in the case of windshield clearing, and passive, concerning the operation of the airbag system. Regularly checking service bulletins for one’s specific model and year of manufacture remains the best practice for all vehicle owners.
