Subaru is preparing new electric models
Subaru has registered three new trademarks — ZPX, VPX, and ACX, which may indicate an expansion of its electric vehicle lineup. All three names relate to “cars and their structural parts, particularly electric vehicles,” confirming the company’s intentions to develop its electric vehicle direction.
These names are not related to previous Subaru models or concepts, making them entirely new to the brand. Furthermore, the applications also mention STI and Wilderness modifications, which may point to high-performance and off-road versions of future models.
Possible development options
However, it remains unclear for now whether these names will be used for production cars. Subaru has previously registered trademarks that were never used, such as STe. Last year, the company also applied for names like Accomplice, Everguide, and others, but none of them have been used so far.
Given Subaru’s activity in the field of electrification, these new trademarks could become part of its future strategy. The potential return of STI versions, which are currently absent from the brand’s American lineup, is particularly interesting. Details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
Although Subaru has not yet disclosed its plans for these names, their appearance in registration documents suggests the company is preparing for new premieres. Perhaps we will soon see concepts or even production models under these indexed names.
