Subaru Hinted at the Perfect WRX, and Then Pretended It Never Existed

Subaru Showed an Imaginary Road-Going Version of the Rally WRX

Subaru Motorsports USA published concept images of the WRX ARA25L rally car, but with road license plates. This caused a wave of discussions among the brand’s fans, who immediately began asking if such a version would go on sale.

What Was Shown on the Renders

Although the images look convincing, some details give away the car’s conceptual nature: sport mirrors, hood vents, and racing tires. The car is based on the real rally version used in the American ARA competitions.

“This would be a dream for every Subaru fan,” users comment under the post on social media.

Technical Features

The production WRX has 271 hp, while the rally version develops about 315 hp and 460 Nm of torque. The main difference is the absence of a CVT in favor of a 6-speed sequential gearbox.

Despite high demand, Subaru does not currently plan to release such special versions for public roads. At the same time, the Japanese manufacturer recently announced a new model with a wide body, which could become the successor to the iconic “charged” versions of the past.

Interestingly, the concept looks quite conservative compared to another Subaru project – Project Midnight, which will have 670 hp and will debut at the Goodwood Festival. Perhaps such an extreme version will be the next step in the development of the brand’s sports model lineup.
