Fifth-generation Audi A6 Allroad confirmed by documents
The SUV boom has consumed most surrounding segments, but Audi continues to defend the high-riding estate it has been building since 1999. The fifth-generation A6 Allroad Quattro is already on its way, and confirmation came not from Ingolstadt, but from an Australian document archive.
The fifth-generation A6 Avant appeared in March 2025, and the sedan a month later. Audi was silent about the off-road version, but Australian type approval documents have already named it.

Our spy photographers spotted camouflaged prototypes at the end of 2024, and these images formed the basis for our speculative renderings. Expect the familiar Allroad uniform: plastic body cladding, aluminum skid plates front and rear, and roof rails positioned higher than on the standard car.

The wheels look different, the tires are more aggressive, and the ground clearance is increased to a noticeable degree next to the standard A6 Avant. Adaptive air suspension returns, allowing the driver to change the ride height on demand, as was the case with every previous Allroad.

The interior will be borrowed from the rest of the A6 lineup. Equipment is expected to include a three-screen digital instrument panel, a head-up display, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 20 speakers, four-zone climate control, and a door-closing function.
Diesel and PHEV
The Australian documents do not just confirm the car’s existence. As Drive found out, the codes DVKC and DYVA correspond to the diesel and plug-in hybrid versions, respectively.

The mild-hybrid 3.0-liter V6 TDI is already offered in the European specification of the Audi A6 Avant, producing 295 hp (220 kW / 300 PS) and 580 Nm of torque. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and the quattro all-wheel drive system.

The plug-in hybrid setup is more interesting. A 2.0-liter TSI is combined with a single electric motor and a 20.7 kWh battery, providing a total output of 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and an electric-only range of up to 100 km (62 miles).
When it will arrive
Although Audi is keeping its cards close to its chest for now, the new A6 Allroad could debut in Europe later this year. Availability in North America remains a mystery, as the new A6 is offered on the US market exclusively as a sedan.

According to CarExpert, state type approval does not necessarily mean that the new A6 Allroad will go on sale in Australia.

When asked, an Audi Australia representative replied:
“As part of our ongoing planning, Audi regularly reviews and evaluates various models and variants to explore potential opportunities for each market. This process ensures that our future model lineup meets local customer needs and market conditions. As always, not every model evaluated is intended for market launch or progresses to it.”
The competitive field has narrowed significantly. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain remains the only direct rival, as the Volvo V90 Cross Country was discontinued last year.

Thus, Audi appears to be betting on a niche but loyal segment where estate practicality combines with off-road capability. The abandonment of petrol engines in favor of diesel and a plug-in hybrid indicates a drive to meet stringent environmental regulations, especially in Europe. At the same time, the uncertainty regarding the US and Australian markets suggests a cautious strategy: the company is ready to launch the model, but the final decision on sales will be made separately for each region, taking into account local demand and regulatory requirements.
