Thousands of Cadillac Electric Vehicles Recalled Due to Problematic Feature That Was Meant to Impress

Cadillac Recalls Over 40 Thousand Lyriq Electric Vehicles Due to Display Issues

The popular Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover, which has been a success for General Motors, is involved in a large-scale recall. Over 41 thousand vehicles from the 2023 and 2024 model years have an issue with the 33-inch display, which can suddenly turn off while driving.

This poses a serious safety threat, as it leads to the shutdown of the instrument panel, rearview camera, and other essential safety systems. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that an investigation began back in March following owner complaints.

How the Problem is Being Resolved

The manufacturer has determined that most cases are related to outdated software in the display control module. Although no accidents have been reported due to this malfunction, the company has decided to conduct a recall.

Since this is a software issue, the fix is quite simple – an update can be installed “over the air” or at official dealership centers

Owners can receive the update remotely or contact Cadillac service centers for offline installation. This is not the first time modern digital panels have caused a recall – the technology requires constant improvement and testing.
