Thousands of Nissan Trucks Require Repair Due to Flashing Lights Issue

Problem with Daytime Running Lights in Nissan Frontier

A technical malfunction related to the engine’s automatic start-stop system has been identified in the 2025 Nissan Frontier. During engine restart, the brightness of the daytime running lights decreases for approximately 0.3 seconds. While this does not pose a serious danger, this phenomenon violates federal motor vehicle safety standards in the USA.

Cause and Solution of the Problem

The company’s engineers determined that the problem occurred after updating the engine control module software. A total of 13,719 vehicles produced from December 2024 to June 2025 are subject to the recall. Owners will receive a notification about the need to visit a dealer, where the software will be updated free of charge.

This is not the first recall for the Nissan Frontier. In 2024, about 6,000 vehicles required replacement of the front right ball joint due to potential steering issues. The current situation is less critical, but the company is taking measures to comply with all safety standards.

The software update will take less than an hour, but it may cause some inconvenience for certain owners. Nissan emphasizes that the temporary reduction in DRL brightness does not affect driving safety and cannot be perceived by other drivers as a turn signal.
