Key details about the car
History of appearance and sale
In early 2019, Bugatti introduced the La Voiture Noire, which at the time was the world’s most expensive new car. This unique specimen was sold for an impressive 16.7 million euros, sparking a wave of rumors about who its owner might be. Now, this hypercar is being put up for auction for the first time.
Owner and public appearances
Although the identity of the current owner remains a secret, it is believed that the car was purchased by a Swiss couple, not by Cristiano Ronaldo or the late Ferdinand Piëch, as rumors suggested in 2019. The La Voiture Noire has made several public appearances, including participating in the Supercar Owners Circle tour of Croatia in 2022.
Terms of sale
The sale is taking place through a collaboration between SBX Cars, an auction platform founded by influencer Alex Hirschi, known as Supercar Blondie, and Broad Arrow Auctions. However, the auction will not be public—potential buyers must register with SBX to receive an invitation to place a bid.
Technical features and car condition
Details about the mileage and condition of the car have not been disclosed, but given its value, it can be assumed that it is in perfect condition. No pre-sale estimate has been provided either, but the seller is obviously hoping to receive an amount higher than the initial record price.
When creating this unique car, Bugatti drew inspiration from the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic model. Although the technical basis of the La Voiture Noire is the Chiron, its body is handcrafted, and it features unique LED headlights and taillights. The heart of the car is the famous 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine producing 1479 horsepower and 1600 Nm of torque.
This sale could set a new record in the world of collectible cars, as the La Voiture Noire remains one of Bugatti’s most recognized and exclusive creations. Its uniqueness and limited availability make it not only a symbol of luxury but also an investment object that could attract the attention of the most discerning collectors.
