Lamborghini owners are used to attracting attention, but not because of technical flaws. One Urus owner faced an unpleasant situation: after repairing one headlight, the second began to look yellowish in contrast. The Lamborghini community is now actively discussing how important aesthetic symmetry is for a car worth over one hundred thousand dollars.
Why does yellowing of daytime running lights occur?
According to the technician who performed the repair, the problem began after an accident that damaged the right daytime running light (DRL) on a first-generation Lamborghini Urus. The specialists managed to restore the bright white glow that the headlights had from the factory. However, the left headlight, which was not repaired, now looks noticeably yellower.
The technician explains that yellowing is a known issue with these headlights. The LED modules are located too close to the light guide tube inside the housing. Over time, the heat from the LEDs effectively ‘burns’ the end of this light path. Instead of a pure white color, the DRL emits a warmer yellow tint, making the front of the car visually asymmetrical.
Owner reaction and cost of solution
Such a minor detail might not be a big problem for an ordinary car. But for a Lamborghini, owners expect perfection, and they clearly expressed this in the comments under the published photos.
‘For that price — absolutely yes. On an old 2008 Kia — not so much,’ wrote one commenter.
‘On a Lamborghini that costs as much as a small house, yes, I would be very upset,’ added another.
From a distance, the difference is almost imperceptible. But up close, it is so noticeable that the owner, according to the technician, did not even want to photograph the front of his SUV.
The technician notes that the best solution would be to replace both headlights to ensure a perfect match. However, insurance companies typically do not agree to this. The cost of one complete headlight ranges from $5,000 to $7,000, so approving the replacement of both is a difficult decision.
Additional context
This situation highlights how high the demands for quality and attention to detail are in the supercar segment. Even minor, seemingly insignificant defects that might be forgiven on a budget car become a topic of heated discussion when it comes to a premium brand. It is worth noting that the problem of LED overheating in headlights is not unique to Lamborghini — similar cases occur with other manufacturers that use complex lighting technologies. However, the cost of the mistake and the level of customer expectations in this case are significantly higher.
