Preparing for a Major Presentation
Nissan is preparing for an important strategic announcement, which will take place on April 14. The event will be broadcast live from Japan, and several new models are expected to be presented, among which the new Skyline may be featured.
Awaiting the Next Generation
The current V37 Nissan Skyline model, sold in the US as the Infiniti Q50, dates back to 2014. Despite updates over the years, the sedan needs replacement. Nissan has already confirmed that a successor will come.
Design and Architecture
In terms of design, the new Skyline is reported to remain true to its sedan roots and will likely be a sibling model to the future Infiniti Q50S. An SUV variant is also believed to be in development, which would expand its appeal. It is worth noting that Nissan has previously offered a Skyline Crossover in the past in the form of a rebadged Infiniti EX37.

Judging by Nissan’s financial situation and the lack of new rear-wheel-drive platforms in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, the next Skyline will most likely use an updated version of the existing architecture rather than a completely new design. After all, Nissan followed the same strategy with the current Z sports car.
Powertrain and Future
The powertrain lineup is expected to include at least one electrified option, integrating Nissan’s best e-Power technologies. The hybrid setup will allow the next Skyline to meet Japan’s stringent environmental regulations and secure its future.
At the same time, we would be surprised if the new generation does not use the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that powers the current sedan. This engine generates 400 hp in the latest special 400R Limited version and up to 414 hp in the Skyline 400R Nismo.

Plans and Timeline
According to the Re:Nissan strategy announced in May 2025, new vehicle development timelines will be shortened to 30 months. Based on this, Japanese media outlet Response suggests that the new Skyline could appear on the roads in the second half of 2027, while Creative Trend claims it may hit the market at the beginning of the year.
Other Expected News
In addition to the new Skyline, the event is likely to provide updates on the future launch of the P16-generation Kicks in Japan, as well as the new Elgrand minivan. Both of these models will be equipped with e-Power hybrid technology, where the internal combustion engine will act as a generator and the electric motor will drive the wheels. Finally, we also expect news about future models and technologies intended for global markets.
The “Nissan Vision” announcement will be streamed on YouTube on April 14 at 10:00 local time, which corresponds to 21:00 Eastern Standard Time on April 13.
This presentation opens a new chapter for Nissan, combining heritage with innovation. The focus on updating existing platforms and implementing hybrid technologies indicates the company’s pragmatic approach in today’s market conditions. The success of the new models will largely depend on how successfully the legendary Skyline dynamics can be balanced with environmental requirements and economic feasibility. The April 14 event could be a turning point that will define the brand’s development vector for the coming years.
