The Lamborghini Pregunta concept car, which debuted in 1998, will be sold at auction in October. Its price is expected to be between $2.96 and $4.15 million. This car, based on the Diablo, is equipped with a 5.7-liter V12 engine producing 530 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.
History and Significance of the Pregunta
The Pregunta is considered the last concept car built by Lamborghini on the brand’s original platform before the transition under Audi’s control. The car was presented at the Paris Motor Show shortly after the Volkswagen Group acquired the company.
Design and Inspiration
Created in collaboration with the Carrosserie Heuliez atelier, the Pregunta was inspired by the French Dassault Rafale fighter jet. Its distinctive features include a glass-like canopy with scissor doors, removable polycarbonate roof panels, a carbon fiber body, and digital mirrors. The color is matte gray, reminiscent of a jet aircraft’s livery.
Interior and Technical Features
The cabin features two seats upholstered in blue Alcantara, separated by a C-shaped element. The car is equipped with a digital instrument panel, an Alpine audio system, fiber optic lighting, four-point seat belts, and rearview camera displays.
Engine and Performance
The 5.7-liter V12 engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The top speed is 337 km/h (209 mph).
Owners and Subsequent Fate
After its presentation, the car remained with Heuliez for ten years before being purchased by a private collector. In 2021, Lamborghini performed maintenance on the Pregunta, after which it was displayed at the Museo Lamborghini. It will now be sold at a Broad Arrow Auctions event in Belgium.
