Zoox, a company owned by Amazon, has introduced an updated version of its robotaxi. This vehicle has received a number of changes both externally and internally, and is set to enter mass production soon.
Exterior updates and interior
Although the design remains recognizable, engineers have made a “series of improvements.” Upon closer inspection, one can notice the updated front section with new reflectors and a neater license plate area. The door interface has also been improved, now featuring a new speaker and microphone for better two-way audio communication. This allows passengers to more easily communicate with tech support, other road users, and emergency responders.
The interior has undergone a significant transformation to create a more welcoming atmosphere. Instead of a dark and gloomy cabin, a lighter design has emerged.
Comfort and convenience
Black interior elements have been replaced with “Stone Gray” upholstery, and the seats have acquired a lighter “Aloe Green” shade. The seats and headrests have become softer due to additional padding and new contours, enhancing comfort and ergonomics.
Updates also include larger cup holders and a brighter touchscreen. Additionally, the wireless charger now features special grooves that securely hold the phone in place.

Production and plans
According to company representatives, the updated color palette helps passengers more easily notice forgotten items, such as bags or phones. The durability of interior materials has also been improved, which is critical for a vehicle operating in taxi mode.
Production of the robotaxi will begin at the plant in Hayward, California, in the near future. The first vehicles are expected to join the company’s fleet by the end of this year. Zoox is capable of producing up to 100 vehicles per week, but expansion of production will depend on obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
This step demonstrates that Zoox, despite its relatively inconspicuous market presence, is actively preparing for the large-scale launch of its service. The updates, focused on passenger comfort and durability, indicate the company’s ambition to create a competitive product in the field of autonomous transportation. Given its production capacity and Amazon’s support, the appearance of these robotaxis on the roads could become an important milestone for the entire self-driving transport industry.
