Accident with Luxury Cars on a Trailer
An unusual accident occurred in Europe: a Volkswagen Touareg, which was transporting a Ferrari 488 and a Mercedes-Benz GLA on a trailer, was involved in a crash. The incident happened because the car had a tire blowout, which led to the trailer detaching. The latter overturned onto the grassy shoulder, leaving both luxury cars hanging upside down.
A witness to the events reported that shortly before the accident, the Volkswagen was clearly struggling with the load, and the trailer was swaying heavily from side to side. Although the Touareg is capable of towing up to 3.5 tons, the total weight of the cargo (including the trailer) likely exceeded the permissible limits.
Consequences of the Incident
Both cars remained secured to the trailer but ended up in an overturned position after the rollover.
Experts suggest that the problem might have arisen not only due to overloading but also because of an incorrect weight distribution on the trailer. Furthermore, no additional safety chains were visible, which could have prevented the detachment.
Judging by everything, both cars sustained serious damage to their roofs, which could lead to them being written off. The question remains whether these vehicles were insured at the time of the incident.
Such cases remind us of the importance of adhering to towing rules, especially when it comes to transporting expensive cars. Improper load distribution or exceeding permissible limits can lead not only to financial losses but also to creating a danger for other road users.
