BMW updates its model range for the summer: new Black Package and base version iX3
BMW continues to update its model range, and this time the manufacturer has announced a series of changes that will take effect in the summer. The changes are relatively minor but include the introduction of a base version of the iX3 and a new Black Package.
New Black Package for the 3 Series and 4 Series
The Black Package will be offered for M Performance versions of the 3 Series, 4 Series Gran Coupe, and i4 Gran Coupe. It is available in combination with the M Sport Pro package and includes equipping the cars with “motorsport-inspired carbon fiber components.”
The exterior changes are quite restrained but include black badges and black 19-inch light alloy wheels. The updates continue inside the cabin, where carbon fiber trim and an M leather steering wheel with carbon fiber accents appear.
Electric crossover iX3 gets a base version
The BMW electric crossover undergoes a series of updates, including the launch of the entry-level iX3 40 version. First announced in March, this model has a smaller 82.6 kWh battery, as well as a rear electric motor producing 316 hp (235 kW / 320 PS) and 500 Nm of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, reach a top speed of 200 km/h, and have a WLTP range of up to 637 km.
The electric vehicle’s color palette expands with several new BMW Individual options. Available variants include Grigio Telesto pearl effect metallic, Java Green II metallic, Malachite Green metallic, Orinoco pearl effect, Purple Silk metallic, Sepang Bronze metallic, and Twilight Purple pearl effect.
Buyers will also find a new option for 21-inch wheels and a two-tone Contemporary Agave interior. Additionally, heated rear seats are now available in combination with the optional Innovation Package.
Other updates and technologies
Other changes are limited, but BMW is introducing the previously announced M Ignite technology on vehicles this summer. These eco-friendly updates will appear on the M3 and M4 in July, and on the M2 in August.
Furthermore, the 2 Series Coupe, as well as the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, now come standard with a Seal & Drive Tire Kit. M Sport versions of the X3 receive new keys with M badges, and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant has also been updated.

These updates demonstrate BMW’s strategy aimed at gradually expanding its electric vehicle lineup while simultaneously increasing the appeal of traditional models through exclusive trim packages. The introduction of the base iX3 version with a smaller battery but significant range makes the electric vehicle more accessible to a wider range of buyers, which is a logical step in the competitive battle in the EV market. At the same time, the Black Package for the sporty versions of the 3 Series and 4 Series satisfies the demand for personalization and a more aggressive exterior look, which is important for customers who value dynamics and style. Overall, these changes show BMW’s desire to balance the development of electric technologies with maintaining the attractiveness of its traditional ICE models.
