Ferrari LaFerrari Prototype Put Up for Auction
The Ferrari LaFerrari is considered one of the world’s most iconic hypercars, with a cost exceeding $4 million. However, for those interested in the history and engineering of this model, there is an alternative – a prototype used during its development.
History and Features of the Prototype
This test vehicle, known as the F150 Muletto M4, was originally a 458 Italia, but its chassis was reworked to accommodate the powerful V12 that was later used in the production LaFerrari. The engine produced 789 horsepower, significantly more than the standard 458 Italia (562 hp).
Externally, the prototype looks unusual – the original 458 body panels have been replaced with temporary elements, making it resemble a “Frankenstein.” However, the interior remained largely unchanged, except for an additional battery in the passenger space.
RM Sotheby’s estimates this prototype at $900,000 – $1.2 million. Although it cannot be registered for road use, it is a unique opportunity to own a piece of Ferrari history.
This car has been sold before – three years ago it was purchased for $715,000. Its value may now increase significantly, making it an interesting object for collectors.
This prototype is not just a car, but a living example of how masterpieces are created. It did not gain the fame of the production model, but without it, the LaFerrari could have looked completely different. For true enthusiasts, this is much more valuable than just an expensive exhibit in a garage.
