New Ford Mustang GTD for $320,000 uses paint shops of other manufacturers

Unique order for a supercar

Among all the colors Ford could have offered for the Mustang GTD, this one was never on the official list. With a base price of over $320,000, the GTD is the most expensive production Mustang Ford has ever built, and for good reason. Its track performance reaches supercar levels, and the driving experience is as close to a real GT3 race car as possible for a road-legal vehicle. Every single unit can be customized according to any owner’s wishes.

Inspiration from Lamborghini

The owner of this GTD wanted his car to attract as much attention as possible. Therefore, he ordered a paint job in Viola Pasifae — a Lamborghini shade available on the Aventador, Huracan, Urus, and Revuelto models.

Although the idea of a purple Mustang may seem somewhat strange, on the GTD this color looks just as good as on a Lamborghini. It shimmers beautifully in the sun, and the purple areas contrast nicely with the exposed carbon fiber elements, including the hood and the massive rear wing. Viola Pasifae also makes the GTD look much more exotic, especially compared to black or silver variants.

Is it really exotic?

Exclusivity and new records

There is no information on how much Ford charged for this color, but as Autoblog notes, we know that Mustang GTD buyers can pay to lock a specific color so that only they can use it. If that is the case, it prevents other owners from using the same shade. Not long ago, we saw a Mustang GTD delivered in Rubystar Neo, a color typically offered only by Porsche.

While the standard Mustang GTD is already exciting on its own, it becomes even more impressive. Earlier this month, the automaker confirmed that the ‘Competition’ version of the car set a lap time of 6:40.835 at the Nürburgring, outperforming the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey. The key specifications of the GTD Competition remain a secret, but it is known to be lighter, more powerful, and have even more downforce.

This news demonstrates how Ford, through the Mustang GTD model, is moving far beyond ordinary production, turning the car into a true object of customization and luxury. The ability to order a unique color from another brand, such as Lamborghini or Porsche, underscores the GTD’s status as an exotic supercar, not just a powerful muscle car. Furthermore, the confirmation of a record-breaking lap time at the Nürburgring for the Competition version proves that this program is not just about appearance, but about genuine engineering excellence that allows it to compete with the world’s best track cars. Thus, the Mustang GTD becomes not just the most expensive, but also the most ambitious project in the model’s history.
