The Last Porsche 911 from Pixar Sold for $3.6 Million, and “Toy Story 5” Introduced Three More Models

Unique Porsche 911s Inspired by “Toy Story” Characters

Porsche, together with the animation studio Pixar, has created three unique 911 cars inspired by the iconic characters of the “Toy Story” cartoon. Each car embodies the character of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, or Jessie through individual design.

The Idea and Realization of the Collaboration

This project is not related to improving technical characteristics but is a creative collaboration with Disney and Pixar in the field of pop culture. The three new 911s were created by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch individual commission division, which translated each character’s personality into design, paintwork, and trim details.

Bob Pauley, production designer for “Toy Story,” noted that the goal was to express each hero’s character through materials, color, and form.

Design Details and Premiere

A preview shows three draped cars, under which characteristic lighting can be discerned. One car has a large rear wing, naturally associated with the image of Buzz, the “Space Ranger.” The car on the left is executed in a Targa body, which is a reference to Jessie’s claustrophobia. Woody likely received a standard 911 coupe with thematic cowboy-style design.

The trio of unique 911s will debut on the red carpet of the “Toy Story 5” premiere in Los Angeles on June 8, before the film’s release on June 19. The fifth part tells about the adventures of toys in an increasingly digital world, where they encounter a tablet device named Lillipad.

Tim Reuss, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said: “Many people fondly remember their first toy – similar to the feelings they experience when they first see or drive one of our cars. We are pleased to once again unite our Sonderwunsch program with Disney and Pixar to create 911-shaped cars inspired by Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie.”

Previous Collaboration Experience and Charitable Purpose

This is not Porsche’s first collaboration with Pixar. In 2022, the company presented a unique 911 inspired by the character Sally Carrera from the “Cars” cartoon. It was based on the 992-generation GTS modification and had a special livery, wheels in the style of the 996, and an individual interior.

The three unique 911s will not go to dealerships or private customers. Instead, they are planned to be sold together as part of a large-scale charity auction. The proceeds from the sale will go to support three non-profit organizations that help children and those in need.

Valuing such unique cars is always difficult, but there is a benchmark: the “Sally Special” was sold in 2022 for $3.6 million. With three cars linked to one of Pixar’s biggest franchises, an even larger sum can be expected when the auctioneer’s hammer falls.

This project demonstrates how automotive culture is increasingly intertwined with the world of entertainment, creating unique objects that combine engineering art with artistic expression. Such collaborations not only expand the brand’s boundaries but also give cars a new, emotional dimension, transforming them from vehicles into full-fledged art objects with their own story. The success of the previous “Sally” project indicates significant demand for such unique creations among collectors and brand enthusiasts.
