Soviet tuning was sometimes senseless and merciless. People wanted to somehow improve their cars, but resources, as you understand, were limited. Thus, machines like the unusual GAZ-21 Volga appeared, offered for sale at $3750.
The car looks like a mishmash of parts from different Soviet cars. Apparently, its creator worked at a car service station or motor pool and had access to all these parts.
From the front, the car slightly resembles the GAZ-13 Chaika. By the way, a number of decorative chrome elements were borrowed from it.
The sidelights were taken from the GAZ-M20 Pobeda, and four tail lights – from the Moskvitch-407 (though they were placed horizontally).
Moreover, the Volga tuning includes huge fins in the American style, and even with antennas. In the interior, there are also more chrome details, and of course, a steering wheel cover was added.
By the way, similar projects existed not only in the USSR. In America, there is a car assembled from 17 different cars.
