Test of Nissan Qashqai e-Power: Economical as Diesel, Agile as Electric Car

My first impressions of the hybrid crossover Nissan Qashqai e-Power emerged during a trip on the highway from the center of Kyiv to a village located almost 100 km from Kyiv. The first thing that impressed me was the full tank of fuel and an approximate range of an impressive 700 km.

But first about the appearance and interior. Like its older sibling X-Trail e-4ORCE, the innovative Nissan Qashqai e-Power is not only stylish and elegant but also very economical and ecological. And if you compare it with the Trail, the Qashqai, in my opinion, is optimal for the city (and life outside the city as well) and most families who simply do not need a lot of space. It’s more compact, more convenient, and at the same time, no less equipped.

Inside the city, it’s quite enough. Not excessive, but enough. The same applies to the trunk, although in this case, a little space is “eaten up” by the battery hidden on the left side. However, this is not critical.

The interior of Qashqai e-Power pleasantly surprises with its comfort and high-quality materials. Multimedia with a 12.3-inch TFT display, among other things, makes it very modern. Convenience and practicality are at the highest level: from a wireless charger to a self-parking system.

As for comfort – Qashqai as Qashqai. More precisely, like the new Qashqai. Because it is even quieter, even more comfortable, and even more with a claim to premium. With a claim, but indeed everything is harmonious and modern. However, anyone can be convinced of this by simply visiting the showroom. Therefore, I will move on to the main point – is it worth overpaying for a hybrid, and what makes it special, and whether it is special at all.

One of the key elements of Qashqai e-Power is its electric motor, which offers zero emissions and efficient energy usage. The integrated gasoline generator always provides energy availability, ensuring additional comfort and independence from charging stations and blackouts, which, thankfully (and God willing), have remained in the past.

Fuel consumption on the highway is impressive – 5.3-5.7 liters per 100 km. The dynamics are also impressive: from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. However, due to the monotonous operation of the internal combustion engine, this feeling is not as bright as in gasoline or diesel cars. Moreover, the sound insulation is such that you see the increase in speed on the speedometer, not in the window.

The e-Pedal Step system adds convenience to driving, and the selective operation of the gasoline engine makes it effective and elegant. All these advantages are complemented by high transmission efficiency and maintaining driving stability on any road.

The energy management system demonstrates extraordinary efficiency, adjusting the compression ratio of the internal combustion engine from 8:1 to 14:1 for the first time. This ensures maximum performance and optimal energy consumption, providing you with energy exactly when you need it.

Choosing the Nissan Qashqai e-Power, you get a modern and innovative car that combines reliability, convenience, and an environmentally friendly attitude. And although now we are not much into the environment (unfortunately, there are other problems in the form of “good” neighbors), this topic is actually very important for everyone!
