Driver walks away unharmed, but the $2 million Ferrari does not

There are fewer than 1,000 examples of the Ferrari 812 Competizione in the world, and as of this week, there is one less. The car, registered in Europe, was completely destroyed following an accident that occurred earlier this week. The damage is so severe that any talk of repair becomes meaningless before it even begins.

A unique car worth over $2 million

This 812 Competizione belonged to Dutch exotic car dealer Thijs Timmermans for the last few years and appeared multiple times in online videos. Last year, AutoTopNL tested this car on the autobahn, pushing it to over 330 km/h. Thanks to its stunning matte blue paint with yellow racing stripes, its value was estimated at over $2 million. Now, all that remains is a pile of twisted metal.

Circumstances of the accident in Scotland

A video published on Instagram indicates that the limited-edition Ferrari crashed on a narrow two-lane road during a trip through Scotland. Since there is no footage of the accident itself, it is difficult to say exactly what went wrong, but the nature of the damage suggests the car sustained multiple impacts, damaging both sides, the front, and the rear.

Extent of the destruction

The front end of the 812 is in particularly poor condition. The hood is completely torn off, as are the bumper, headlights, and fenders. Several hoses and pipes are visible and torn, with the carbon fiber air intakes ripped from the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. Additionally, the windshield is shattered, and the rear end is torn to pieces — only two taillights remain in place. A wheel has also been torn from the rear left corner after the car went off-road. The force of the impact clearly triggered the airbags. The only good news is that the driver reportedly walked away unharmed.

This incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of even the most perfect supercars when faced with unpredictable road conditions. The narrow Scottish roads, known for their sharp turns and limited visibility, can prove to be a real challenge for any vehicle, especially one as powerful as the Ferrari 812 Competizione. The loss of this unique example is significant not only for its owner but also for the world of automotive culture, as such models are created not for daily use, but to preserve heritage and engineering excellence. The fact that the driver escaped unharmed is a testament to the high level of passive safety in modern supercars, even in the face of catastrophic body damage.
