A Retro Car Maybach Zeppelin Abandoned in the Forest Near Kyiv Was Found (photo) en

It is generally believed that only in Monaco can one see abandoned retro and supercars. But in reality, this is not the case – from time to time in Ukraine, truly unique and rare cars are found. Just consider the abandoned Rolls-Royce in Kharkiv and the potato seller in a British limousine. We have already written about rare and unique Mercedes in Ukraine. So, to that list, this particular specimen that was discovered near Kyiv today should be added!

What is this? According to TopGir.com.ua, as the author of the photos, Maxim Zinchenko, writes, before us is a Maybach Zeppelin Spohn Stromlinie from 1932. More precisely – this is an unfinished and, apparently, abandoned attempt to recreate the legendary “Hitler’s Maybach.” Why Hitler? All in due time.

It seems that the customer ran out of money and/or patience, and thus it now stands abandoned in the Vyshhorod forest. But this is just a guess – there could be numerous reasons.

It should be noted that there is very little information about this car. It is known only that the Maybach Zeppelin Spohn Stromlinie was created as a show car for the Berlin Motor Show in 1932.

According to some data, the model Maybach Zeppelin DS8 Stromlinien was made in a single copy, while others mention 2 units. The car was crafted at the Carosseriebau Hermann Spohn workshop.

As TopGir discovered in historical data, according to rumors, Adolf Hitler himself “crossed out” this Maybach, arguing that the production of such cars contradicted the ideology of National Socialism.

By the way, he himself preferred to ride in a Mercedes-Benz, although, in essence, the Maybach he saw was just a Mercedes in different “packaging.” For this reason, perhaps the car was simply cut up and no one remembered it further. Do you know that there is more than one Mercedes like Hitler’s in Ukraine?
